Man wants to change Mt. Diablo’s name

I was pointed to an article by my friend Wangzang about how some ultrareligious wierdo in Oakley wants to change the name of Mt. Diablo.

An Oakley man has applied to the federal government to rename Mount Diablo, saying the name offends his religious sensibilities because it is Spanish for “devil.”
Art Mijares asked the U.S. Board on Geographic Names to change the name because it is “derogatory and profane.” He wants the mountain renamed “Mount Kawukum” because he believes the name has Indian roots.”

Note: the indians didn’t call it Kawukum.

Maybe he could introduce a bill to force everyone in prison named for a saint to change his/her name. Or maybe just disallow religious names all together.

Just in, Native Americans suggest Mt. Wiliagimiabrayk.
