Pirate Postings on Pop Culture and Scurvy

Random sputterings on travel, midgets, too much salt water, and of course scurvy. Yarr.

General boring stuff

There’s less to write when you’re not off drinking yourself to oblivion in foreign ports, but it’s been a couple of weeks now, so here’s an update.

I’ll have one more trip for STS in July, and then I’m done. I will be sailing from Suva, Fiji to Honolulu, Hawaii as a last gasp to train a new hire. I’ll have a couple of days of vacation to burn on either end of that trip, and I’m looking forward to it.

I’m almost fully back into the swing of things on land, including driving way too fast and rushing out the door to go to work. I spent the last week working two jobs as I transition over to IGPP from Shipboard Technical Support. It’s a bit of a culture shift, but I think it’s one for the better.

My friend Jason moved down to Socal from the Bay Area to attend firefighting school, so he and I have gone biking the last couple of weekends. Last weekend, we did Noble Canyon in the Laguna Mountains east of San Diego, which was a lot of fun. Yesterday, we tried to ride the Santa Ana River Trail near Big Bear, but there are a bunch of trees down on it, so it’s pretty much unrideable unless you like stopping every 50 feet and throwing your bike over a downed tree.
