The rumors are true. I accepted a new job with the Institute for Geophysics and Planetary Physics (IGPP) at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. I’m in the midst of working out a transition schedule between my old job at Shipboard Technical Support and this new position at IGPP. This is basically a departmental transfer, but my responsibilities will be very different.

As part of the new job, I will be upgraded from a Programmer/Analyst II to a PA III, meaning a bump in salary.

I’ve offered to take one more cruise for STS and split some time as they are in a bit of a staffing bind at the moment, but after this cruise it looks like I am done with going to sea.
