Post SF report
I made it up to the SF Bay Area last weeked for the first time since Thanksgiving last year, basically 10 months ago. I saw a bunch of old friends that I hadn’t seen in a long time, including my buddy Dan who I’ve known ever since my family moved to Danville from Fresno. After living in San Francisco for all most 10 years, he’s left the city and has bought a really nice condo in Dublin. It’s amazing how much that area has changed since he and I were two skinny kids on bikes riding down to Dublin to get parts for RC cars and stealing sugar packets and lemons from Carls Jr. to make lemonade because we were too poor to afford soda. Ahh memories.
I crashed on his couch after staying up until 3 or 4 drinking tequila, shooting the shit, and just catching up on old times. I then headed back to my parents house, grabbed a quick shower, threw on my monkey suit, and steered the Texas Taurus of Justice, my Texas-tagged rental car, towards Sonoma for Jim and Meredith’s wedding.
The wedding was at Cline Cellars, about 5 minutes from Sears Point Raceway. I ran into a group of friends from college, including my old roommate Ben. Since Jim and Meredith aren’t the type for long-winded sentiments the ceremony was short and sweet and very fitting for them. The music was particularly interesting - they played the Wedding Processional from Star Wars Episode Two, and used the tinkly bells track from True Romance as the recessional.
The post-wedding party was at the bride’s dad’s house in Petaluma. Her sister Kelly is another good friend from college, so after watching a couple of guests fall over drunk, we stayed up until about 3 or 4 drinking tequila (this time in Margarita form), shooting the shit, and catching up.
All in all, it was a great weekend, with the weather behaving itself remarkedly well for being NorCal.
Edit: Oh my god, apparently my geek credentials have been revoked. Kelly pointed out that it was the “Throne Room Theme” from episode 4 of Star Wars played as the processional. Gotta go read 30 hours of Slashdot back-posts as my penance I guess.
