Random crap roundup
It’s been a few months since I’ve updated this thing so here goes:
- I’ve been doing a lot of mountain biking recently. Most of my riding has been at Mission Trails Regional Park - it’s close by and my friend Jere lives nearby. I’ve been doing Thursday evening rides with him and my office mate Rob since daylight savings started. I also did some trail work out there a couple of weeks ago with SDMBA. I got to drive the Tacoma out to the work site with a bunch of tools in the back, so now I can say that I’ve wheeled Mission Trails.
- The Audi needs a new transmission. I think there are chipped teeth on the deceleration side of the output shaft before the center diff. It sounds like I have a bunch of chipmunks chattering away when I decelerate while in gear, but the noise goes away when I put the clutch in. No noise on acceleration and only a slight noise while cruising. Grrr that’s a couple grand that I’d rather spend on new tires or a better paint job or more Boostu.
- Most of my work has involved implementing a 5 node Sun Cluster for our seismic acquisition and processing systems at IGPP. It’s been a sometimes painful learning experience but we’ve got most of the kinks sorted out and I’m in the midst of upgrading the cluster to version 3.2 of the clustering software.
- I’m going camping on Santa Cruz Island in a couple of weeks with a bunch of people including my sister (who incidently is running in the Rock and Roll Marathon here in San Diego in a couple of weeks)
