$730 later, I’ve got new rimzzzzzzz
Well, not really rimzzzzzzzz, but new wheels for the road bike. My officemate’s dog Nia is rather unimpressed however.
I trashed the stock wheels on my Giant TCR C3 on a curb on the 4th of July so I decided to upgrade things a little. My buddy Dan (who rides like a maniac over all sorts of crappy surfaces on his cyclocross ride) recommended the Mavic Ksyrium Elites, so I took a little trip out to God’s Country (aka east county) to Big Ring Cyclery in La Mesa. Along with the new wheels, I ended up getting a new rear cassette and new chain, plus a new cadence sensor for my speedometer while I was at it.
Joe also gave the bike a quick tune-up and found that the cranks and several of the crappy aluminum stock chainring bolts were loose and needed tightening, as well as my headset. I guess that’s what happens when you beat on your road rig like it’s your mountain bike. Anyhoo, the bike rides smoooooth now. I barely hear driveline noise and all of the rattles and creaks are gone.
